Excited to Join the Instacart Table

To the Instacart community,

This is my first official week as the newly-appointed CEO of Instacart. I’m incredibly excited to get started, and I’ve been spending the past couple of weeks introducing myself to the people who make this company and this community so special — including all of you.

In many ways, my decision to join Instacart was a personal one. I come from a family of fishermen, and food has been at the center of just about every important moment in my life. To me, there’s nothing more inspiring or noble than feeding the world. I was an Instacart customer for years before I joined the company, and I quickly fell in love with how this company solves a truly essential need for millions of families: access to food.

As I think about the future of food, I believe the way we eat and our relationship with food will fundamentally change over the next decade. All of us are going to want a more convenient experience and easier access to the widest selection of food, with faster delivery times and more affordable prices. We’re also going to expect more personalization, and want to be inspired by our food experiences – from shopping for groceries to preparing and sharing meals. At Instacart, we have an opportunity to deliver all of that to you, while also becoming an even stronger partner to the hundreds of retailers and thousands of brands we work with today.

As we do, we’ll continue to rely on our incredible shopper community to help connect neighborhoods and communities to the food and essential goods they need. Instacart shoppers have done an incredible job keeping families healthy and fed – especially over the last year and a half – and I want to thank the entire shopper community for the work they’ve done to help families like mine stay safe.
